iTero® Element™ Scanner

No Goop. No Gag. No Worries! The iTero® Scanner solves the uncomfortable, unpleasant tasting process of utilizing traditional impressions. Now you can have goop-free, full digital impressions with the revolutionary iTero® Element™ Scanner. The scanner takes an incredibly detailed impression of your teeth and gums. When scanning is complete, we will have a 3D model that can be used to create detailed crowns, bridges, implants, and Invisalign® clear aligners and retainers. At Midlothian Family Dentistry, we want our patients to have a comfortable experience while receiving the most reliable and efficient care.

Biolase®

Biolase® EpicX is a small low-level energy laser that is perfect for a wide variety of treatment options. Hygienists love it, for LBR (laser bacteria removal), where it’s up to 99.9% effective in killing bacteria in the gingival sulcus (commonly referred to as pockets) around your teeth. Doctors love it because it reduces pain and promotes quicker healing, which makes it the preferred method to conduct tissue sculpting for cosmetic procedures and soft tissue surgery. This laser is so versatile, it has a therapy wand to treat TMJ disorders and a feature for faster tooth whitening, which is why you’ll love it too!

DIAGNOdent®

DIAGNOdent® uses fluorescence laser technology to safely detect hidden sub-surface caries. By combining the readings from the DIAGNOdent pen with digital radiology and clinical examination, hidden decay can be found and treated before it has a chance to do further damage to the pulp or enamel of teeth. It’s a quick, painless and reliable way to find tooth decay missed by more conventional methods. If detected early, caries is oftentimes treatable without drills and anesthetics!

Waterpik®

Hate flossing? Let’s face it – flossing isn’t sexy. But NOT flossing is… dangerous to your health! Here’s a partial list: bad breath; heart disease and stroke; diabetes; cancer; arthritis; Alzheimer’s disease… but wait there’s more! Emerging research is showing more evidence that relationships exist between poor oral health and certain systemic diseases and conditions. Plaque is bacteria – plain and simple. Removing plaque by flossing is considered one of the best ways to maintain good oral health. Flossing by using a Waterpik® has been shown to be up to 50% more effective than conventional floss. So now that you know – no more excuses!

Identafi®

Did you know that Oral Cancer is one of the fastest growing, least diagnosed cancers and has a five year mortality rate that is higher than cervical and prostate cancer? Oral cancer kills one person every hour of every day! Dentists are in a unique position to catch oral cancer early, because patients visit every six months for their hygiene appointment – a perfect time to do a quick, painless cancer screening with Identafi®. This pen-like device uses multiple wavelength light technology to detect morphological and biochemical changes in tissue that occur with oral cancer. Treatment is 80% - 90% effective when caught early. If you haven’t had an oral cancer screening recently, you need to do this!

Planmeca

Cone Beam Computer Topography provides the ultimate virtual reality – well for dentists anyway! This state-of-the-art 3D scanner boasts the lowest dosage radiation exposure with superior image enhancement. In other words, this scanner sees things that other scanners may miss, while providing you with the safest levels of reduced radiation available today. Images are so clear, we can isolate impacted wisdom teeth and visualize root canals prior to treatment. Every implant surgery is planned using virtual implant placement and conducted with CT generated surgical guides. Computer-guided implant surgery means shorter appointments and less invasive procedures, which provide for faster healing, less post-surgical discomfort, and more predictable treatment success.

Piezosurgery®

Who likes drills? We thought so… that’s why we use this revolutionary device that actually doesn’t destroy your bone like conventional drills do during surgery. Piezosurgery® tips utilize dual wave ultrasonic technology, which maximizes cutting efficiency. So efficient, in fact, that it preserves BMP (you know – those protein molecules that allow your bone to re-grow itself) and reduces the body’s inflammatory response, which means less post-operative swelling and pain. We like Piezosurgery® so much we bought two! (Disclaimer: we have drills and we know how to use them!)

Give yourself the smile and experience that you deserve.
